Throughout Season 1, it is shown that Lucinia went missing 2 years prior to the show. Flashbacks and archived security footage revealed that she was involved in an accident during Project Blue's development and was recovered by Lucks, who kept her disappearance a secret and led everyone to believe she had gone missing or was dead. When Belle found out about her involvement in Project Blue, she originally thought that Tari had murdered Lucinia due to comparing Tari's affiliation with the Project Blue logo. In Fatal Error, Lucks revealed that she survived the explosion. Tari confirmed this and explained that Dr. Sheridan tried uploading an advanced A.I. iteration into her Meta Runner arm, but accidentally pushed the neural uplink that caused the upload to end in catastrophic failure as the explosion physically scarred Sheridan and Lucinia, with the latter having her consciousness shattered and left in a coma. Some of her fragments were lost in the server while the others went into Sheridan's A.I., the Turbo Assisted Rapid Intelligence Program, otherwise known as T.A.R.I., meaning that Tari herself is the A.I. program that Sheridan created to help Lucinia until some of her consciousness became attached to Tari, allowing her to exist in the real world through an artificial body. AppearanceLucinia is a woman with bright, long purple hair, pale skin, and a slender build. She wears a black tank top, black shorts with a navy hoodie tied around her waist, including black tube socks and black leather boots, and a necklace with a sky-blue pendant. Her meta runner arm is on her left. In the second season, she does not have the jacket and her shorts have two white stripes on the sides; most of the time she is seen in the TAS Corp. server, appearing as a purple glitter. In the final season (and when Tari saw her in Tempest), Lucinia's Meta Runner arm is gone and she has third degree burns on her left arm and shoulder, with lesser burn scars on her neck and left cheek. The strap on her left arm also appears to be affected from the burns. PersonalityIn a flashback shown in "Soft Lock", she lacks self-esteem and calls herself an "old dog" teaching new tricks to Belle by showing her a new glitch, saying that if she can't achieve the Ultra Jump Mania record, Belle can. She also mentions how she hasn't had a press conference in a while unlike Belle and Masa. Her low self-esteem were one of the core reasons she volunteered to be a test subject for Project Blue. She is shown to be very kind as she is complimenting Tari's abilities. Lucinia is also shown to be very friendly as when she meets Tari for the first time, she discovers Tari has been in her head, seeing her memories, she was not angry. Instead she was glad Tari was getting something in return from helping Lucinia win games. The two immediately hit it off. Before Sheridan pushed the neural uplink too hard and caused the explosion she hugs Tari, where the two promise to find each other again. Lucinia is also shown to have no tolerance for anything bad said about her loved ones. This is seen when the first thing she does is smack Evelyn across the face after hearing her disrespect Tari. HistoryLucinia was one of TAS Corp.'s notable Meta Runners. She was so notable she appeared in company advertisements, becomigng acquainted with team captain Masa Shimamoto and Belle Fontiere, the latter epsecially becoming close with Lucinia which eventually lead to romance. It was also revealed in Shutdown that she is Sofia's older sister and that she raised her all by herself, with Sofia taking after her sister's habit of being humorously melodramatic. However, as time went on, she became less relevant compared to Belle and Masa which lead to her not being featured in press conferences anymore and noticed less by her boss, Derek Lucks which upset her and hurt her self-esteem as she believed she was mediocore compared to her friends. Despite this, Masa reassured her that she was one of the best runners he knew and that she belonged on the team despite what others thought of her. Regardless, Lucinia began wandering the science labs of TASCorp in the hopes of finding something to improve her skill which eventually led to her learning of James Sheridan's research project that was in desperate need for a test subject. Desperate herself for Lucks' attention, Lucinia approached Sheridan and volunteered to be the host for his experimental A.I. program, delighting the desperate scientist. There, she met with Sheridan's sentient A.I. program dubbed the Turbo Assisted Rapid Intelligence or just T.A.R.I., who was uploaded into Lucinia's Meta Runner arm and allowed her to guide Lucinia's movements through numerous games and her skills skyrocketed as a result. Believing the time was right to take the experiment to the next level, Sheridan uploaded a more advancted iteration of T.A.R.I. into Lucinia, having her warp into the digital realm to connect directly to Tari herself where the two met face-to-face. Despite instantly hitting it off, the server began to collapse due to Sheridan accidentally pushing the neural uplink too hard which would result in Lucinia either dying or, at best, leave her with permanent brain damage. Tari managed to rescue Lucinia before taking her into the TASCorp server where her mind would be safe but Tari confessed that her hard drive would be fried and her memory data would be erased, leaving her a blank slate. Realizing this, Lucinia removed her digital arm, representing part of her consciousness, and gave it to Tari so the two would remain connected. Tari apologises for everything that has happened, and Lucinia apologises for everything Tari is about to go through, the two embrace promise to find each other again one day. In the real world, the explosion resulted in Sheridan being physically scarred as he escaped the lab, leaving Lucinia behind with burn scars while her consciousness was shattered, leaving her in the ruins of the lab. Eventually, when Lucinia didn't show up to work, Lucks announced her as missing and went to check Sheridan's lab with his security team to find out what happened, only for him to stumble upon the broken Lucinia which enraged him due to believing that Sheridan did this to her. He ordered his men to recover whatever they could before he called a medical team to recover Lucinia but chose to keep his discovery of her whereabouts a secret, leaving her to go missing from the rest of the world. After placing her in cryostasis, Lucks realized that Lucinia should have recovered from her physical injuries yet wouldn't wake up. This led to him theorizing that Sheridan's A.I. had fragmented her mind, leaving her an empty shell which meant until the A.I. with Lucinia's fragments could be recovered, she wouldn't be able to awaken. Lucinia's disappearance heavily affected both Belle and Masa with the latter correctly assuming that Lucks knew something about her disappearance and, despite Belle's warning not to, tried hacking into Lucks' private server only to be discovered and decomissioned from TASCorp with Lucks having his Meta Runner arm confiscated in the process. This only strengthed Masa's belief that Lucks was responsible for what happened to Lucinia and eventually came to the conclusion that Lucinia was dead. Enraged by her "death", Masa chose to go against his former boss by exposing TASCorp to the public, despite knowing what Lucks would do to him if he caught him again, and decided to recruit Sofia Porter as she missed her sister and wanted justice as well, along with another, Lamar Williams who became a Meta Runner himself after joining the two of them to form MD-5. For the next year, MD-5 would try numerous times to take down TASCorp to get justice for Lucinia's "death", only to fail repeatedly due to Lucks' high level of cybersecurity and powerful influence within Silica City. Season 1In One Shot, she appeared when Tari mysteriously passed out upon warping into Tempest, which was being run on TAS Corp's server. Tari ended up having a strange vision of a mysterious purple-haired girl. As Tari tried calling out and reaching for her, she suddenly dropped away, and Tari started to wake up. In The Run while Belle and Masa argued, Masa mentioned Lucinia, causing Tari to remember the purple-haired girl she saw in the strange vision. When Tari managed to escape Belle and crash the game, she subsequently received another vision of Lucinia. This time, Lucinia turned around to face Tari, but when she did, her appearance suddenly changed, revealing burn marks and scarring, including missing her meta runner arm. In the post credits scene of Shutdown, after Lucks sends Belle to a van, he requests a subject update. The computer informs Lucks various health statistics as a camera pans to a woman (Lucinia) in a cryopod. Season 2In Transfer Student, Belle asked Theo to look for anything related to Project Blue to find evidence of Lucinia's fate. Theo couldn't find anything at first, but then suddenly, a purple glitter moved around Theo and found a file titled "projectblue_cleanup_lucinia", giving it to him. When Belle viewed the file later, it revealed that Lucks always knew about Lucinia's fate, causing her to turn against him. In Friendly Fire, the purple glitter helped Theo navigate a difficult part of the corrupted version of Ultra Jump Mania. In Soft Lock, the purple glitter returned to boost Tari's precision in Hidden Heroes to defeat Evelyn. Additionally, a flashback revealed that Lucinia struggled with self-esteem issues and was neglected by Lucks while Belle and Masa were in the spotlight, this motivated Lucinia to search the labs to boost her performance. In Fatal Error after Tari saves Theo, the purple glitter appears once again, finally revealing itself to be Lucinia, although she couldn't remember her name until Tari said it, but she managed to guess who Tari was. When Tari asked Lucinia who or what she was, Lucinia told her everything she knew off-screen. Tari later revealed what Lucinia told her: Lucinia's consciousness was blown apart, with parts of it going into the TAS Corp. server and other parts going into Tari, who was Sheridan's A.I. program. Season 3In Power Down, Tari was abducted by Evelyn while trying to warp into Turbo Crash 9 and brought into Dr. Sheridan's private server and chained down while Sheridan explained that she fulfilled her purpose of taking down Lucks and no longer needed the "extra" brain functions. He then revealed Lucinia was in the private server, too, just before he drilled into Tari to remove Lucinia's consciousness. In Testing Room, the process is interrupted by Theo who warped in after Tari, attacking Evelyn and destroying the machine, allowing Tari to break free. The transference is left incomplete, with Lucinia only regaining a part of her consciousness while the rest is still left inside of Tari while Evelyn is tasked with retrieving more data fragments. In Skybreakers (Episode), Belle and Masa are forced to play Battle Blaze against an unknown player who Masa discovered was Lucinia. They demanded Sheridan explain what was going on, but he electrocuted Belle before returning them to his private server. Sheridan reveals that their opponent is Lucinia but with partial consciousness. She can only perform basic motor functions such as following Evelyn and Sheridan's orders and playing video games. Belle is brought to tears upon seeing Lucinia while Masa sarcastically congratulates Sheridan on finally outdoing Lucks on something: being an even bigger monster than he was. Sheridan decides he's wasted enough of their time and sends them back into Battle Blaze, but this time they are forced to warp in and fight Lucinia directly. In Dead On Arrival, Evelyn and Lucinia track down Tari and her friends in the safe zone. After taking out Theo and Lamar in-game, Evelyn orders Lucinia to attack Tari and reclaim her missing fragments. However, Sofia sees Lucinia through Tari's perspective and calls out to her, momentarily awakening Lucinia as she says her sister's name and drops the knife, allowing Tari to defend herself by attacking Lucinia with it and cause some of the fragments to return to her and somewhat restores her meta runner vision and fight back. When the crew seeks refuge on a new ship after Evelyn's bot-boy captain blew it up, Lucinia tried attacking Marco by shooting at him with her guns but failed. In Death Warp, Lucinia is seen on the ground crying in one of Masa's visions, but she quickly turns around and attacks him while degrading him. She is also seen in Skybreakers with Evelyn attacking players and warping them into Sheridan's virtual world. As they get closer to Tari and the others, Lamar goes to slow them down and tries to stop the two, causing Lucinia to shoot at Lamar with her weapons. Lamar tries attacking Lucinia with an ability, but she successfully shoots and explodes the objects. When Lamar disrupts the steering of the ship, Lucinia and Evelyn hold him down before Evelyn forcibly warps him into cyberspace. In Global Testfire, Lucinia is seen briefly in a SHERCorp. commercial alongside Sheridan. She is also seen briefly in a cryogenic pod in the real world. When Evelyn attacks MD-5's ship before they enter the backdoor, Lucinia is seen on Evelyn's ship alongside Belle and Masa. Evelyn begins talking and Lucinia shoots Tari in the leg. Just before Evelyn and her crew attack, a projectile is fired at their ship, and all are knocked down. At the end of the episode, MD-5 and SHERCorp. prepare to attack each other. Overload Lucinia fights Lamar while Marco fights Masa in Skybreakers. After Masa kills Lamar, Lucinia kills Marco's assistant bot before taking him down. Just as Tari is about to defeat Belle, Lucinia shoots Tari's rifle out of her hands and regroups with the remaining SHERCorp. members as Evelyn restrains Tari. When Masa regains control and pushes Evelyn down into the ship, she aims her gun at him, but he defends himself and knocks them both away. After Belle regains control when her control bug short circuits, she throws her sword at Lucinia to stop her from getting the knife, then plunges the knife into Lucinia's stomach as they harm each other. Lucinia removes the knife from her stomach and the remaining data fragments return to Tari, restoring her power. When Evelyn is defeated, Lucinia removes the impaled sword as Sofia encourages Tari and her to use his virtual lab to restore them both, so Tari threatens to destroy Sheridan's server and she follows Tari off the shop into the backdoor. The End Lucinia and Tari warp back into Sheridan's server, where she fights Tari, in Tempest, and in Pocket Gakusei against Tari and Satsuki-Chan before returning to the virtual world. Sheridan eventually makes Lucinia invincible and she bests Tari. After Sofia disrupts the server and Lucinia's invincibility, Tari throws Lucinia onto a Turbo Crash 9 car and Sofia drives Tari and Lucinia into the operating room, where Tari restrains her on the table. After a brief conversation with the A.I. version of Lucks,Tari begins the revival process and apologises to Lucinia for being involved with what Sheridan did to her, and tells her to tell everyone she will miss them. Lucinia is revived and freed from Sheridan's influence. In the real world, Evelyn gets mad at Marco and the others, but as she started to badmouth Tari, Lucinia emerged and smacked her across the face before telling her off, denouncing her as a vile, spoiled little brat. She locks Evelyn in a chair and kisses Belle, confirming their relationship. Belle, Lucinia, Marco, and Masa returned to his hideout and Sofia and her reunite. After Lamar directed the group to an unresponsive Tari lying on the sofa, Lucinia tells them what Tari told her just before she went unresponsive, and says that without Tari, she feels like a piece is missing from her before tearfully thanking Tari for her sacrifice. Lucinia and the other members of MD-5 lament over Tari and Theo before Sofia conducts Belle and Lucinia's initiation into their group. In the credits, Lucinia can be seen alongside Belle and Sofia playing video games. RelationshipsSofia PorterSofia and Lucinia are sisters. Her disappearance visibly alarmed Sofia, driving her to join MD-5 to investigate what happened to Lucinia and bring down TAS Corp. When Lucinia is controlled by Sheridan, the only thing that woke her up was Sofia's voice. When Lucinia came back, Sofia ran into their arms as they shared a tearful reunion. Belle FontiereBelle and Lucinia are dating. Before her disappearance, Lucinia was shown teaching Belle speedrunning tricks. When Lucks rings Masa and orders Belle and him to get to the press conference, Belle tries to get Lucks to show Lucinia some attention but shot her down hard. Unbeknownst to Belle, that would be the last time she would see Lucinia as the following day, she vanished without a trace. Lucinia's disappearance deeply scarred Belle, as this hardened her into the hard-shelled woman she is today. Lucks sent Belle to the rubble of Project Blue, recognising Tari's crest. She then finds an SD card with footage, it showed the evolution of Project Blue, at the end, showed Dr. Sheridan in visible distress while a woman screamed, recognising the voice as Lucinia's, Belle broke down in the middle of the lab, realising Lucinia was gone. With Tari being linked to it's symbol, Belle antagonised her, thinking she did something to Lucinia. While Tari urged that she didn't know who she was, Belle wouldn't take no for an answer. A few months later, Belle came across new info, the day after the explosion, Lucks examined the area, only to find Lucinia's body. Belle was deeply enraged, now knowing that Lucks knew about what happened to Lucinia for 2 years, with this information, Belle realised Tari really was telling the truth. Now allied with MD-5, Belle was coming close to the truth about what really happened to her girlfriend. She eventually found out, Lucinia survived the explosion but was put in a coma due to pieces of her mind being absorbed by the A.I. she was testing, Tari. Belle and Masa woke up in Sheridan's server and found out, they were warped in, just like Tari. When Tari joined, she was incapacitated on an operating table, with Lucinia on the other end, and Sheridan was preparing to extract the pieces of Lucinia's mind and implant it back into her. In Battle Blaze, she encountered a player that looked like Lucinia. But Sheridan proceeded to reveal that it was Lucinia. She couldn't think for herself due to only having a small bit of consciousness but could perform basic motor functions. Belle broke down into tears, she expressed that she had missed her for so long and urged Lucinia to say something. But no avail, Belle was forced to play against her girlfriend. Eventually, Belle and Masa were brainwashed by Lucks into mindless puppets, but eventually were freed. When Belle was freed from her brainwashing, she saw Lucinia, and Tari instructed her to stab her with Evelyn's knife. Belle then said it was going to hurt her more than Lucinia, she prepared to stab her with the knife but was at the same time shot, which emotionally hit Belle. After Sheridan was defeated, Belle, Masa and Evelyn woke up. Evelyn began to rant about Tari, before Lucinia emerged from the shadows and slapped her. Belle was about to smack her a second time before Lucinia stopped her. Belle questioned if Lucinia was really back before the latter reassured her, they then proceeded to share a heartfelt kiss. TariTari and Lucinia's connection to each other is the overarching mystery of the show. When they first contacted, Tari was a sentient A.I. that was uploaded to Lucinia's arm. While Lucinia's skills skyrocketed, Tari was provided a backdoor to her memories. After seeing what a life was, Tari decided to disobey Sheridan's instructions and play with Lucinia's friends. After meeting face-to-face, Tari confessed to Lucinia that she had been inside her memories, but Lucinia was gladdened, happy that Tari was getting something in return for helping her win games. Tari had also told Lucinia that she met her friends, and they both made fun of Masa. While they bonded, something was happening in reality, then a crack opened in the middle of the floor. Lucinia fell in, and Tari saved her. She then questioned what was happening, and Tari revealed that Sheridan pushed the neural uplink too hard, and was about to explode, and Lucinia could die if she didn't hurry. When they got to the entrance of the Tas Corp. server, Lucinia was more concerned about Tari, and was relieved to hear that she would survive, but became sad to learn that her memories would be erased. Learning this, Lucinia twists her Meta Runner Arm off, and hands it to Tari, saying that even if her memories will be gone, that piece of her will remind her that she is never alone. Lucinia and Tari embrace, Tari thanking her and apologising for everything, while Lucinia apologises for everything Tari is about to go through, they then declare they will find each other again. From there, Lucinia was blown up and was sent into a comatose state, with fragments of her consciousness being absorbed by Tari. As promised by Lucinia, she still remained a subtle presence in Tari's life, after waking up, Lucinia subtly influenced Tari to go into TAS Corp. Apparitions of Lucinia (the remaining part of her that were lost in the server) also appeared before Tari in The Run and Shutdown. The second time that appeared turned to face Tari, before revealing her real form, a broken and scarred body, before smiling at Tari. When Tari eventually found out the truth, the remaining fragments of Lucinia were controlled by Sheridan and forced to fight each other. After Lucinia came back, she immediately came over to smack Evelyn after hearing her tarnish Tari's name. She then relays the message that Tari was going to miss everyone to the whole group and expressed that even though they barely met, Lucinia felt like she has always known Tari, but now that she was gone, it felt like a piece of her was also gone, she then cries, thanking Tari for her sacrifices.
